neurodiversity-affirmative therapy

Growing up with a neurodivergent brain can leave you feeling misunderstood and alienated. You might feel like you don’t fit in and struggle to follow unspoken social rules. Maybe you’ve spent so much energy masking that you don’t know who you truly are. You might be asking “What’s wrong with me?” It’s time for a therapist who really gets you. As a neurodivergent therapist, I love working with other autistic and ADHD women. Whether you’re late diagnosed, newly questioning, or ready to better understand that diagnosis you got in childhood, I’m here to help!

I work from a neurodiversity-affirming perspective, which understands autism, ADHD, sensory processing disorder, and other forms of neurodivergence as normal variations in how our brains are wired. I’m not here to “fix” your neurodivergence or make you fit into a neurotypical world. Instead we’ll work together to explore how your brain works, support your nervous system, and tailor your environment to fit your sensory needs.

adhd assessment

Are you struggling with distraction or a lack of motivation? Alternating between hyperfocus and task paralysis? Wondering if you may have ADHD? In addition to therapy, I offer ADHD assessments for women and gender diverse clients in person and over telehealth.

I have specialized training in ADHD assessment and a wealth of knowledge about neurodivergence, particularly in late-diagnosed women, but my style is warm and informal. I try to make the assessment process as welcoming and affirming as possible. I know that not everyone fits the stereotypical picture of ADHD (looking at you, high achieving former gifted kids!) and I’m skilled at spotting highly-masked ADHD.

An assessment with me includes:

  • A free phone consultation to answer your questions and make sure you’re a good candidate for assessment

  • Two to four sessions to complete a structured interview on specific traits and symptoms of ADHD

  • Questionnaires to complete on your own time (or together in session, if homework is too hard!)

  • A 60-minute session to discuss your results and explore your questions about ADHD diagnosis and treatment

  • If diagnosed, a letter confirming your ADHD diagnosis, a copy of your assessment scores, and a list of ADHD resources for further exploration

Please contact me to discuss fees for assessment and current wait time for new assessment clients!

If you are seeking an assessment to access medication or school accommodations, please be aware that some doctors and institutions may require a full neuropsychological assessment by a psychologist. However, neuropsychological testing isn’t required to diagnose ADHD and typically my clients are able to access ADHD treatment with my letter confirming an ADHD diagnosis. While my assessments are not as comprehensive as a neuropsychological evaluation, they can be a more affordable path to self-knowledge and help guide you in finding the right support for your brain. Please email me for a free consultation to discuss this further and determine if I’m the right fit for your needs!
